Hillyer comes up big for West Branch

CANTON, Ohio (WKBN) – West Branch rallied in the second half to outscore Canton South, 14-0, as the Warriors improved to 6-2 after their 21-10 win.

Trae Hillyer had a monster night as he accumulated 159 yards rushing on 31 carries while he scored all three of West Branch’s touchdowns. T.J. DeShields completed 10 of 14 passing for 88 yards. Jack Steele caught 3 balls for 25 yards while Austin Smith hauled in 2 catches for 36 stripes.

Canton South (2-6) was led by the running attack of Trey Longoria (82 yards) and Brooks Herrington (52). The Wildcats turned the ball over 3 times. Herrington connected on 11 of 22 passing for 90 yards. Four completions were thrown to Khord Moore and Jake Daniska respectively.

The Wildcats had won three of their previous five meetings with the Warriors.

West Branch (6-2) will play their final home contest at home against Marlington next week. Next up for the Wildcats (2-6) is a meeting with Carrollton in Carroll County.
