Brookfield knocks off LaBrae, remains in playoff picture

BROOKFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – In a game with major playoff implications for both teams, the Brookfield Warriors picked up a big win on Friday night, beating LaBrae 19-14.

With 7:07 remaining in the first quarter, Carlton Brown hit Keevon Harris on a 45 yard touchdown pass to put LaBrae ahead 7-0.

The Warriors responded to tie things up when Anthony Necastro connected with Casey Tingler on a 20 yard touchdown pass.

Brookfield took the lead with 8:23 remaining in the first half on a Tingler 42 yard field goal making it 10-7 Warriors.

A 35 yard Tingler field goal with 11 seconds remaining in the half would push the Warrior lead to 13-7 at the half.

With 8:04 in the third quarter, Necastro found the endzone again, this time from 15 yards out to push the Warrior lead to 19-7.

With 3.7 seconds remaining in the game, LaBrae’s Carlton Brown score from four yards out to shrink the Warrior lead to 19-14, but it was too little too late as the Warriors pick up the win at home.

Brookfield (7-1) entered the game in 12th place in Division VI: Region 19, will travel to Campbell next week.

LaBrae (6-2) entered the game in fourth place in Division V: Region 15, and will host Girard in week nine.
