AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – As Breast Cancer Awareness month slowly draws to a close, one group here in the Valley continues to make strides against breast cancer in the Tri-County Walk.
Participants gathered at Austintown Fitch High School’s stadium bright and early this morning despite the gloomy conditions.
The most satisfying thing for people to see at these events are other survivors.
“It is awesome to see survivors obviously, it’s great,” says Heather Gollan, a nine year cancer survivor. “This is doing something. You know, the more survivors you have, that means that the more money is being raised, the more awareness, the more people are taking precautions and that’s what it’s all about.”
All of the money raised from Sunday’s walk helps the American Cancer Society in the ongoing fight against breast cancer.
