CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) – A Campbell woman faces numerous charges after police said she got physical with the officers who were arresting her Monday night.
Kelly Clark is accused of kicking two officers and spitting on one at the police station.
“We had to get tested for any potential disease or medical condition that she might have to ensure our officer is safe, because he came in contract with her bodily fluid,” said Campbell Law Director Brian Macala.
Twenty-nine-year-old Kelly Clark is charged with assaulting an officer, endangering children, vandalizing a police cruiser, resisting arrest and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police said a citizen reported Clark driving erratically on Monday. Officers pulled over the vehicle and found a 9-year-old in the back seat. They said both Clark and the passenger smelled of alcohol.
“What does concern me is there was a 9-year-old child in the car,” said Campbell Police Chief Drew Rauzan.
It took five Campbell police officers and one officer from Coitsville to handle Clark’s arrest, because officers said she would not comply with their commands.
“She’s swinging and taking whacks at you, in some of our officer’s personal areas. We still used the necessary amount of force, minimal force, and took her into custody safely,” said Rauzan.
Frank Clark, Jr. was a passenger in the vehicle. He was taken to Youngstown, where he was wanted on a bench warrant.
The child was not hurt, and another relative came to pick him up and take him home.
