Chambers’ Golden Goal lifts Howland girls soccer

Howland, OH (WKBN) – Howland’s Kaitlyn Chambers scored a goal less than five minutes into overtime to boost Howland past Poland, 3-2 the Division II Sectional Tournament Thursday.

The Tigers took a first half lead on an unassisted goal by Napier Ramsey and led 1-0 at halftime. They would follow that up with a goal by Sara Ciletti, but Poland came back with two goals by Jessica Miller to tie the game at 2 at the end of regulation.

But 4:47 into the first overtime, Kaitlyn Chambers scored on an assist from Kendyl Buckley to secure the victory, 3-2. The Bulldogs outshot Howland, 9-8 on the night.

Howland goalkeeper Kamryn Buckley came up with 7 saves, while Poland’s Rachel Pugh had 5 saves. Poland’s season comes to an end with a 6-10-2 overall record.

Howland improves to 8-6-3 on the season and advance to play Lakeview next Monday at 7 PM in the Division II District Semifinals.
