WELLSVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) – A Wellsville couple was indicted by a Columbiana County grand jury after police say they starved the woman’s three children.
According to the Morning Journal, Jaime D. Emery, 34, formerly of Commerce Street, Wellsville, is charged with six counts of endangering children. Jason M. Thompson, 41, also formerly of Commerce Street, Wellsville, is similarly charged with six counts of endangering children with the same accusations.
Emery was charged after her 8-year-old son showed up to school in September underweight, with his ribs showing through his skin. The boy said he was given only one meal a day and that withholding food was used as a punishment. Police also indicated they found locks on the refrigerator, freezer and the boys’ bedrooms.
Emery has two other boys, aged 7 and 10, and a 9-year-old daughter who is currently in foster care due to a sexual assault charge pending against Emery’s father, according to Emery.
All three boys have been removed from the home by county Children Services.
