MERCER, Pa. (WKBN) – Mercer County District Attorney Robert G. Kochems chastised local police departments for not taking part in a free court training session.
The District Attorney’s Office in Partnership with AWARE held a training for trial preparation and courtroom advocacy for the county’s police departments. A grant paid to have officer positions filled on the street for those who attended the training.
In a post of Kochem’s Facebook page, Kochems said eight of his assistants worked with eight officers from the Hermitage and Grove City Police Departments in a practical approach to trial testimony. The training had 20 available slots and 4 cancellations were received from Southwest Regional Police. No one from the county’s 11 remaining police departments participated.
Excerpt from Facebook post:
This failure of attendance at a basically free training by the County’s remaining 11 police departments shows why District Attorney Bob Kochems has been publicly supporting officer safety and limiting law suit liability by having sufficient officers available to be adequately trained and prepared to do the job they have been hired to do.
Kochems thanked the chiefs from Grove City and Hermitage for attending the training session.
