Patrol nabs $61K in hydroponic marijuana on Ohio interstate

Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol arrested a driver in Jackson County with $61,000 worth of marijuana.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol seized over $61,000 in marijuana during a traffic stop in Jackson County, just south of Columbus.

Police stopped a 2015 Toyota Corolla, with Georgia registration, at about 10:50 a.m. on Oct. 20 for following too closely on U.S. Route 35.

A drug-sniffing K-9 alerted troopers to the vehicle and a search turned up 14 packages containing more than 13 pounds of hydroponic marijuana.

The driver, Carlos Orozco, 23, of Hialeah, Florida was arrested and charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana.
