Hicks helps Crestview rally past Springfield

The Rebels rallied in the fourth quarter to outlast the Tigers, 28-27.

NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Two second half touchdowns by Crestview’s Zach Hicks helped the Rebels defeat Springfield, 28-27 Friday at Springfield Local High School.

The Tigers got on the board first with a 35 yard touchdown pass from Graham Mincher to Cody Allen to give Springfield a 7-0 lead. But Crestview would counter with two straight touchdowns. Caleb Hill found Brendan Mallo for a 17 yard touchdown pass, while Tyler Stratton ran in a 2 yard score later in the 2nd quarter.

Springfield would go on a tear though, with three unanswered touchdowns, two rushing by Graham Mincher. But Hicks stepped up, and ran in a two separate 5 yard touchdowns to tie the game at 27. The Rebels final extra point made it a 28-27 game and they held on from there.

Crestview improves to 8-1 on the season and travel to Lisbon next week, while Springfield drops to 3-6 and close out the season at home against United.
