Lisbon rebounds nicely against rival Leetonia

LEETONIA, Ohio (WKBN) – The Blue Devils rebounded from last week’s loss to Columbiana to cruise past Leetonia, 49-0, this evening. Lisbon outgained the Bears, 414-52.

Leading 7-0 on a Jason Thompson touchdown run, the Blue Devils’ Josh Liberati punched it in to increase the lead to 14-0.

With 0:47 remaining in the first quarter, Dougie Minor broke free of the Bear defense, taking it 46 yards for the score.

In the second quarter, Austin Davis took the ball up the middle to increase the Blue Devil lead to 28-0.

Later in the quarter, it was Collin Sweeney taking a Leetonia punt back to the house for another Lisbon score.

Before the end of the first half, it was Lisbon once again when Liberati connected with Austin Rutecki for another score, making it 42-0 Lisbon.

In the third quarter, Frankie Morrell punched it in for the Blue Devils to increase their lead to 49-0.

Devil quarterback Josh Liberati was effective with his legs (7 attempts, 77 yards) and with his arm (3 completions for 30 yards) as he scored a pair of touchdowns (1 passing, 1 rushing). Austin Davis ran for 64 yards as Dougie Minor gained 46 on a single carry. Austin Rutecki had a pair of catches for Lisbon as he scored on a 5-yard catch.

Lisbon (8-1, 3-1) will meet Crestview in a marquee matchup next week. Leetonia falls to 1-8 (0-3 ITCL White) as Columbiana awaits next Friday.
