NEW WILMINGTON, Pennsylvania (WKBN) – Battling for position within District 10 Region 1 with identical 4 and 3 records, the Wilmington Greyhounds overwhelmed the visiting Lakeview Sailors 28-6.

In the first quarter, set up by a big 39 yard option run, the Greyhounds took the early lead on a Spencer DeMedal one yard touchdown run to put Wilmington ahead 6-0.
With 0:55 remaining in the opening quarter, the Greyhounds increased their lead to two scores on a Bryson Verrelli 16 yard touchdown pass to Mark Shenker. The successful two-point conversion made it 14-0.
With 9:46 in the second quarter, Kyle Slicker hit DeMedal from two yard out to increase the Greyhound lead to 21-0.
With 2:32 remaining in the first half, the Sailors got on the board thanks to their defense. Braden Yeager picked off a Greyhound pass and took it all the way back for the score to shrink the Wilmington lead to 21-6.
In the second half, the Greyhounds increased their lead to 28-6 when DeMedal hit Shenker for a 22 yard touchdown with 11:03 remaining in the game. The score would hold as the Greyhounds pick up the big late season win.
Wilmington (5-3) entered the game in fourth place in District 10 Region 1 and will travel to Sharpsville next week to take on the unbeaten Blue Devils.
Lakeview (4-4) entered the game in fifth place in District 10 Region 1 and host Franklin next week.
