None arrested, 13 cited in Austintown police blitz

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police cited 13 people for various offenses Saturday during a patrol blitz in Austintown, according to a press release from the Mahoning County OVI Task Force.

Eleven troopers from the Task Force and Ohio State Highway Patrol, performed the blitz, conducting 62 traffic stops and citing three drivers for speed, one for headlights being out, one for window tinting, one for a license plate violation and one citation for taillights required. Police also issued court summons for five drivers for driving under suspension and one for drug abuse.

Police announced the blitz Friday but did not specify the date or location since the event was not a checkpoint. Police are required by the fourth amendment to the U.S. Constitution to announce the location of OVI checkpoints.
