Sharon shooting suspect arrested after Greenville resident shot

Quentin Mathews was arrested by Greenville Police on Oct. 27 and is accused of a Oct. 17 shooting in Farrell.

GREENVILLE, Pa. (WKBN) – A Farrell man, accused of shooting two teenagers in Sharon on October 17, was arrested on Tuesday in Greenville after a home invasion in which the owner was shot.

Greenville Police arrested 34-year-old Quentin Mathews at an apartment in the 100 block of Clinton Street, following the home invasion on Harrison Street in Greenville.

Greenville Police Sgt. Paul Molton said Mathews shot the owner in the arm, and that person was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown for treatment. Molton said a handgun was recovered during Mathews’ arrest and charges through the Greenville Police Department are pending.

A warrant for Mathews’ arrest was issued on Tuesday morning through the Sharon Police Department for attempted homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and prohibited possession of a gun for another incident on October 17, in which two 17-year-old boys were shot in Sharon.

Sharon Police say Mathews was a front seat passenger in a car that had stopped to pick up the boys. One of the teenagers, riding behind the driver, began to argue with Mathews who turned toward the back seat and shot him three times, twice near his eye and once in the biceps of his left arm, according to a news release from the Sharon Police Department.

The small caliber bullets did not penetrate the victim’s skull, and he has been released from the hospital. Mathews is also accused of shooting the second teenager in the back near his shoulder.

The victims ran to the home of someone they knew after the shooting, and police were called.

Sharon Police impounded the car and obtained a warrant to search it. Detectives found evidence that the shooting occurred in the car but did not find the gun at the time.

Mathews was booked into Mercer County Jail, where he awaits a court hearing.

A woman, Keri Cusich, was also arrested at the apartment in which Mathews was found for probation violations, according to police.
