Complaints of drug activity prompt Niles police to crackdown on apt. complex

Heather Gmucs was arrested in Niles, Ohio and charged with drug possession and found to have outstanding warrants.

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – Following complaints from neighbors about drug activity in and around an apartment complex in the city, Niles officers began saturation patrols of the area.

Officers were patrolling the 1800 block of Belle Terre Ave. about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday when they stopped a black Chevy Impala for a traffic violation.

The driver, Heather Gmucs, 30, of Youngstown, was found to have several outstanding warrants from Trumbull and Mahoning counties. She was also charged with driving without a license and possessing drug abuse instruments after a hypodermic syringe was found in her car, according to police.

Gmucs was booked into the Trumbull County Jail.

Niles police will continue to saturate the area with patrols.
