KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A 2-year-old Tennessee girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert was found safe Thursday in Ohio.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a statement that Brooklynn Enix was found in a rural part of Morrow County, Ohio, and her father, 36-year-old Tyler Ward Enix, was taken into custody.

The statement said a man who heard the Amber Alert on the radio realized he was traveling behind the vehicle described in the alert and called 911. The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office responded and stopped the vehicle.

Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch told media that officers began searching for the father and child after finding the mother dead and the girl missing on Wednesday during a welfare check. Police later issued a warrant charging Tyler Enix with murder in the death of 36-year-old Kimberly Enix.

The TBI said neighbors had seen Tyler Enix drive off with the girl before his wife’s body was discovered.

Rausch said the couple was in the process of divorcing.

The TBI statement said Enix was being interviewed by Ohio law enforcement authorities.
