YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Health Insurance Marketplace opens in three days, and local and federal officials are teaming up to make sure residents in Ohio know about enrollment opportunities in their communities.
Open enrollment for 2016 coverage runs from November 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016. Health and Human Services expects 10 million individuals to be enrolled.
“The uninsured rate in Ohio has fallen from over 17 percent in 2012 to just over 8 percent this year,” said Trey Daley, state director for Enroll America in Ohio.
Last year, over 5,500 in Mahoning County selected or were automatically re-enrolled in health insurance plans through the Marketplace.
For coverage to start January 1, individuals must enroll by December 15.
