Niles Girls Soccer captures first District Title

The Niles Red Dragons Girls Soccer Team captured the Division II District Title with a 1-0 win over Howland.

POLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Top-seeded Niles topped #3 seeded Howland 1-0 in the Division II Girls Soccer District Finals Thursday night at Poland High School.

Hannah Ward scored the game’s only goal seven minutes into the second half to seal the victory.

The win marks the first-ever District Title for Niles in the history of the girls’ soccer program which was born in 1986.  It also is the program’s first-ever victory over Howland.

Niles improves to 15-2-2 on the season, and advances to face Archbishop Hoban in the Division II Regional Semifinals Tuesday November 3rd at 7PM at Nordonia High School.

Howland’s season comes to an end with a record of 9-7-3.
