Semi accident prompts power outage in Trumbull County

A semi accident in Weathersfield Township, Ohio forced a power outage.

WEATHERSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – A power outage Thursday morning in McDonald and Weathersfield Township is being blamed on the fallout of a crash that happened Wednesday night on Salt Springs Rd.

An out-of-state truck driver is facing a citation after witnesses say his trailer broke a utility pole about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday along Salt Springs Road, near Owsley Rd.

Troopers say the truck driver from Iowa was lost and tried to turn around on a road he shouldn’t have been on.

Ohio Edison had to cut power to about 1,400 residents in the area in order to repair the pole and wires.

Police and fire crews blocked the road for several hours just in case the pole came down.

The driver was cited for improperly backing-up.
