Trumbull County Head Start to receive $2.4 million in funding

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Head Start program in Trumbull County is set to receive more than $2.4 million in federal funding.

Congressman Tim Ryan announced Thursday the Trumbull County Action Program in Warren will receive the grant to operate the Head Start program through October 2016.

“I’m pleased to announce that the Trumbull Community Action Program has received this important funding,” Ryan said. “Head Start’s mission to provide social services to low-income children gives our children the support and tools they need to succeed. This program is critical to so many in our community and across the nation and I am happy that these funds are going to such a good cause.”

Head Start promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of low-income children through the provision of comprehensive health, educational, nutritional, social and other services.

The grant is part of the Head Start program through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
