Two people were injured in a fire in Perry Townhip, Ohio Thursday morning.

PERRY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – Two people were injured in a fire in Perry Township early Thursday morning.

According to the Morning Journal, crews were called about 1:30 a.m. to a home along Prospect St. Ext. When they arrived flames were coming out of the east side of the house.

Gary and Sandy Colian were in the house at the time of the fire and were both treated at Salem Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening burns.

According to Perry Township Fire Chief Bruce Whitcher, one of the residents was cooking potatoes on the stove and said they left the room for a short time and when they returned, the kitchen was on fire.

Most of the major damage was contained to the kitchen area, but the fire traveled to the front portion of the house and was coming out of the living room windows.

Four departments and medical crews responded to the scene.
