WINDHAM, Ohio (WKBN) – With a good chance to make the post-season win or lose, the Mathews Mustangs took care of what they could, topping host Windham 20-6.

In the first quarter, facing a 4th and goal the Mustangs’ senior running back Bryan Leipply punched it in for the game’s first score. A failed extra point try made it 6-0 Mathews.

With one minute remaining in the first quarter, it was Mathews and Leipply again, this time taking it in from nine yards out to push the lead to 12-0 Mustangs.

In the second quarter, the Mustangs offense continued to dominate. From the Bomber five yard line, sophomore back Daniel Canter bulled through the Windham defense for the score. A successful two-point conversion made it 20-0 Mustangs.

The Mustangs picked up the win, 20-6.

Mathews entered the game ranked fifth in Division VII, Region 23.
