The Blue Jays knock off Ridge

MINERAL RIDGE, Ohio (WKBN) – In a must-win matchup for Jackson-Milton, the Blue Jays came through for a 17-7 win at Mineral Ridge tonight to secure their 7-3 mark. The Rams fell to 3-7.

Mike Assion completed 8 of 14 passing for 89 yards. He also gained 25 yards on the ground (TD). Joey Burnside led the Blue Jays in rushing with 137 yards on 33 attempts.

Ridge’s Tait Rummell accumulated 86 yards on the ground (21 attempts). While Mac White connected with his receivers on 7 of 14 passing for 82 yards.

Jackson-Milton outgained Ridge 256-148 yards in total offense. The Jays converted 7 of 15 on third downs as the Rams were only 2 of 9.

Jackson-Milton last defeated Ridge in back-to-back seasons in 1996 and 1997. The Jays actually defeated the Rams in seven straight years between 1991 and 1997.
