Give-A-Coat program serves Columbiana Co kids

Ronald McDonald House Charities provides coats for needy children in Columbiana County

COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WKBN) – Kids in Columbiana County were able to get a free, warm coat on Saturday, just in time to go trick or treating.

Families came to the Lions Club in Lisbon to pick up their brand new jackets. It’s part of Ronald McDonald House Charities’ annual Give-A-Coat program.

The charity partners with Wal-Mart to purchase the coats.

Steven Telischak, owner of a local McDonald’s franchise, is glad to see kids get coats that fit before winter.

“We have them paint and color a little bit, and have them pick out their own coats. So it’s the choice they make. We just help them pick it out, that’s it,” Telischak said.

Ronald McDonald House Charities will continue giving out coats in Trumbull County on November 7 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. They will be at the Salvation Army, 270 Franklin Street in Warren. Pre-registration is required. Walk-ins will not be accepted. For more information, contact Dianna Morales at 330-392-1573.
