Spaghetti sauce cook-off takes place in Youngstown

Not Your Nonna's Sauce Cook-off was held in Youngstown to raise money for local organizations

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – People in Youngstown gathered at Our Lady of Mount Carmel for the second annual “Not Your Nonna’s Sauce” cook-off.

The Green Team, Veg Wear, The Bread Chef and Center for Lifestyle Change sponsored the event. Rulli Brothers donated all of the pasta.

For $15, people could try different spaghetti sauces made by professional cooks.

Phill Kidd, Judge Rusu and WKBN’s Rich Morgan judged the sauces to find a winner.

Samantha Turner and Sharon Letson help organized the event. They say winners received a coveted wooden spoon and bragging rights.

Turner and Letson say all of the proceeds go back to the community through different local organizations, such as the Rotary Club of Youngstown and Grow Youngstown.
