BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown man was arrested on Monday for failing to appear in court to face accusations that he was pleasuring himself at a Subway restaurant earlier this year.
A warrant for 28-year-old John Hunter’s arrest was issued when he did not appear at a pre-trial for the public indecency charges, according to court and jail records.
The incident for which Hunter is charged was first reported on May 15 by a Walmart employee, who said she witnessed Hunter inappropriately touching himself at a table in the store’s Subway restaurant on Doral Drive. She told police that Hunter, a frequent patron of Walmart, appeared to be watching a pornographic movie on his cell phone for approximately 15 minutes while he was inside the restaurant, according to a Boardman Police report.
Hunter left the store before police arrived, but he returned on June 3 and was arrested. Police issued Hunter a criminal trespass warning and told to stay away from the Boardman Walmart.
Hunter, who is on probation for another public indecency conviction, was banned from the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library for a similar incident in December of 2014. A woman there told police that Hunter had followed her through the library, sitting down at a table next to her, where she witnessed him touching himself in an inappropriate manner.
