LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) — The Wellsville couple accused of starving three boys over the summer were arraigned in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court on Monday.
Jaime Emery, 34, is charged with six counts of endangering children. Her live-in boyfriend Jason Thompson, 41, is also charged with the same for accusations that the couple abused each of Emery’s three children, resulting in serious physical harm.
According to the Morning Journal, when asked about their physical appearance on the first week of school, the children told school officials they were limited to only one meal a day and food was withheld as punishment during the summer. The investigation reportedly found locks were on the refrigerator and bedroom doors.
There is a second-degree felony and third-degree felony charge for each of the three boys. The couple could face up to 33 years in jail, if they receive the maximum sentence.
The Morning Journal reports that the boys have been moved into a foster care situation and are reportedly doing well.
Status hearings were set on Thursday for Emery and on Nov. 19 for Thompson.
