Artist returns to Warren to beautify neighborhood

Amy Novelli, Warren native, returns to paint a mural in the city's Garden District

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Warren native is bringing light and color into the Garden District of the city she once called home.

Amy Novelli is painting a bright mural on a building at the corner of North Park Avenue and Scott Street Northeast.

Novelli now lives in Arizona, but was picked for the job through public votes and the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership.

She says she’s amazed at how many people have already stopped by to comment on the artwork.

“I used to worry that maybe my life and my art wasn’t doing enough to help the planet or to help humankind,” Novelli said. “But people have been coming and thanking me for helping the people of this area.”

She says some have even asked her to paint another mural on the other side of the building so they can watch from their houses.

Novelli has been working on the mural since the end of October and expects it’ll take a month of good weather to complete it.
