Leavittsburg man charged with raping seven-year-old

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Leavittsburg man appeared in court Tuesday on charges of raping a seven-year-old girl.

A grand jury had secretly indicted 61-year-old James Nichols, who entered a not-guilty plea Tuesday to several counts of rape.

Warren Twp. Police investigated the case, and Judge Ronald Rice set Nichols’ bond at $500,000.

Nichols is scheduled to appear back in court Wednesday for a pre-trial in front of Judge Wyatt McKay. During the legal process, Nichols is not allowed near child under 18 unless accompanied by parent.
