Girard PD report ‘disturbing’ Instagram message sent to St. Rose students

GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – Girard Police are investigating a “disturbing” Instagram message sent to several students at St. Rose School in Girard, according to a press release.

The release states that police learned about the message late Tuesday night and that the message was not threatening or violent, simply “disturbing.”

Police did not immediately return a call seeking further details about what the post contained.

The report did not specify how many students received the message or who first told police about it.

Girard Police got information regarding where the message was coming from, presumably from Instagram or an internet provider, and tracked down a juvenile suspect. Police stated in the release that that suspect admitted making a fake Instagram account and sent the messages.

Police forwarded the case to the juvenile division of the Trumbull County Prosecutor’s office to decide whether or not charges should be filed, according to the release.
