OVI Task Force to hold checkpoints in Austintown, Youngstown

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning County OVI Task Force announced Friday that they will hold two sobriety checkpoints over the weekend.

In a press release, the group stated that the first checkpoint will be Friday night at 483 N. Canfield-Niles Road in Austintown, and will run from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m.  The second checkpoint will be at Mahoning Avenue at Belle Vista in Youngstown, and will run from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday morning.

Officers will be looking for alcohol and drug impairment during the checkpoints and will also be conducting saturation patrols, according to the release.

The Mahoning County OVI Task Force, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio Department of Transportation and Mahoning County Emergency Management Agency are participating in the organization of the checkpoint.
