Crestview falls behind, storms back for win

NEW WATERFORD, Ohio (WKBN) – The top ranked Crestview Rebels opened their playoff run falling behind visiting Berkshire before turning things around and picking up the hard-fought first round win in Division V, Region 15.

In the first and with the Badgers driving, a juggling catch in the endzone put Berkshire ahead 6-0.

Crestview would answer on a Zach Hicks 12 yard touchdown run. A successful extra point try gave the Rebels the lead 7-6.

Berkshire would fire right back on a one yard touchdown dive. A successful two-point conversion made it 14-7 in the second quarter.

On their next possession, the Badgers’ would find the endzone once again, this time from 49 yards out to give the eighth ranked team a 21-7 lead over the top ranked team in the region.

With 5:29 remaining in the second quarter, Hicks punched in in from 5 yards out to make it 21-14.

The Badgers answered with 2:32 remaining in the half with a touchdown pass to increase their lead back to two scores, 28-14.

Not wanting to go into the locker room trailing by two scores, the Rebels mounted a late drive, capped off with 0:46 remaining in the half when Spencer DeSalvo hit Tyler Stratton on a 20 yard touchdown pass to bring the score to 28-21 at halftime.

In the third the Rebels brought the game to a tie on a one yard touchdown run and a successful extra point, bringing the Rebels all the way back from a two touchdown deficit.

Later in the half the Rebels would take their first lead since being ahead 7-6 early in the first half on a Hicks five yard touchdown run to make it 34-28 with 4:09 in the third quarter.

Making up for their slow start, the Rebels increased their lead to 42-28 on a 25 yard touchdown pass.

Another rushing touchdown increased the lead to 49-28.

With 3:49 remaining in the game the Badgers pulled off a fake field goal pass for the score to make it 49-36.

One last Rebel score increased their lead to 56-36, which would be the score at the end of the game.

Crestview will move onto the second round where they will take on LaBrae.
