Canfield boy raises $23,000 for War Vets Museum

Canfield boy honored during ribbon cutting at War Vets Museum

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The Canfield War Vets Museum on Main Street got a much needed face lift, thanks to a young boy with a very big heart.

Canfield Middle School 6th grader Scotty Crawford has spent the past two and a half years raising money to help renovate the museum.

“Our veterans are very important and I went there at a young age,” Crawford said. “I noticed that it looked a little rundown and I said, ‘We need to honor our veterans.'”

Scotty was able to donate over $23,000, which was used to update the outside of the building, including new siding and landscaping. Improvements were completed by local companies and volunteers.

During today’s ribbon cutting and dedication, The American Legion gave Scotty their original flag as a way to say thank you.

Scott says he’s not done yet. He plans to keep fundraising and hopes to raise at least another $12,000 to renovate the inside of the museum.

{THEY SAY THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS FOR US AND I SAY, WELL THANK YOU FOR SERVING.}
