Car strikes pedestrian in Canfield, Ohio State Patrol investigating

A pedestrian was struck by a car on Route 224 in Canfield

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol post in Canfield is investigating a one vehicle pedestrian injury crash that occurred on Route 224 east of Raccoon Road. The crash occurred at around 12:35 a.m. Saturday and involved one vehicle and a pedestrian.

The car was traveling west on Route 224 in the right lane. The pedestrian was walking eastbound. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck the pedestrian.

The 30-year-old driver, Kerrie L. Sefchik of Youngstown, was not injured.

The pedestrian, 20-year-old Ty Shawn Jayvon Burkley of Youngstown, was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown by Lane EMS.

The Canfield Police Department and Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department assisted with traffic control around the crash scene.

The crash is under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
