Garage fire in Liberty causes damage, no injuries

A barn caught fire in Liberty Township after a car inside goes up in flames

LIBERTY TWP, Ohio (WKBN) – A car business in Liberty Township caught fire around 2:30 Monday afternoon.

There was heavy smoke from a garage on Harding Avenue when firefighters arrived.

Liberty, Vienna and Weathersfield fire departments were called to the scene and were able to put the fire out in minutes.

Liberty fire chief Gus Birch says there was just one person inside the garage when the fire started.

“He didn’t realize there was a fire until he heard a window blow out. There are no smoke alarms in the building, there is no emergency lighting in the building. We’ll address all of those issues when we’re done here,” Birch said.

No one was injured in the fire.

There was property damage to the roof of the garage and a couple of cars inside.
