OVI Task Force makes arrests during weekend checkpoints

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning County OVI Task Force has released the results of the sobriety checkpoints that took place over the weekend.

According to the press release, a total of 727 vehicles passed through, with seven being directed into a diversion area for further investigation.

Four arrests for Operating a Vehicle Impaired were made, along with two on Arrest Warrants and one for Failure to Comply.

Three summons for Driving Under Suspension, one for Drug Abuse, and another for Open Container were given.

Forty-eight traffic stops were also conducted.

The OVI Task Force worked in collaboration with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to execute the two checkpoints.

The first was at 483 N. Canfield-Niles Rd. in Austintown on Friday from 10 p.m. to midnight. The second was at Belle Vista on Mahoning Ave. in Youngstown from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m.
