2015-16 Springfield Tigers’ Girls’ Basketball Preview

Season in Review
Callie Ford helped guide the Lady Tigers to a 12-11 mark. Ford scored 20 points or more fifteen times and 30 or more three times. In Springfield’s first game of the season against Lowellville – she scored 22, grabbed 13 rebounds and had 5 steals in their 60-33 victory. Springfield struggled down the stretch after beginning the year with a 10-5 record by falling in six of their last eight games. However, coach Jim Schuler’s team got by Mooney – 47-43 – in the Sectional Final before having their season come to an end against South Range (61-29).

The Lady Tigers finished their second season in a row with a winning record after struggling through a 7-14 campaign in 2012-13.

Key Returnees
This year’s unit will have to replace Callie Ford, Joanie Foster, Mary Ritter and Emily Stacy – three players who played in all 23 games and Foster, who appeared in 19.

Kasey Kohler led all returnees in scoring with 5.3 and rebounding with 3.7. She’s welcomed back with Sara Chaszeyka (2.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg) and Josie Applegarth (1.0 ppg, 1.8 rpg).
