YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – At least four students were arrested at Volney Rogers Middle School Wednesday after police said they discovered a BB gun that one of them brought to school and passed around.

Officers were called about 8 a.m. to the school on Schenley Avenue on reports of a student with a firearm.

A student informed the principal that she saw another male student show a gun in the gym and then placed it under his shirt.

After questioning several students, police discovered that a female student brought the gun to school and gave to another male student who then showed the gun. The gun was then handed over to another student before the girl eventually put the gun into a bookbag inside her locker, according to a police report.

Police retrieved the gun from the girl’s locker and discovered it was a BB gun.

All four students were taken from school to the Mahoning County Justice Center where they were charged with having weapons on school property and inducing a panic.

Volney Rogers is a middle school for 7th and 8th grade students.
