2015-16 Poland Girls’ Basketball Preview
Head Coach: Nick Blanch, 7th season at Poland (75-62)
Record: 15-8 (9-3), T-2nd in AAC White Division

Season in Review
Poland began 2014-15 with a 10-1 record; however, struggled down the stretch to close out the season with a 5-7 mark over their last twelve games. The Lady Bulldogs were bounced from the post-season in the Austintown Sectional Final by Field (47-35).

Freshman Bella Gajdos had 14 games where she scored double-digits, eight which saw #23 bring down at least 4 rebounds and six outings where she dished out 4 assists or more. The team featured five players who scored 7 points or more and at least 3 rebounds per game.

Coach Nick Blanch points out some of his team’s strengths, “(There’s) a commitment to each other as teammates and friends. They have a strong desire to get better every day.”

Bella Gajdos led the team in scoring (11.5) and assists (2.7) as a freshman last winter. She’s joined by Emily Melnek (8.7 ppg, 6.0 rpg) – who scored in double figures 10 times which included her lone double-double (15 pts, 10 rebounds) against Jefferson last February – and Jillian Penman (4.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg).
