2015-16 West Middlesex Ms. Reds’ Girls’ Basketball Preview

Record: 17-8 (8-4), 3rd place in Region 2

Season in Review
The Big Reds began the season with a 5-1 mark before becoming the only team in school history to compete in the District 10 Final and to play in the state tournament. The Ms. Reds fell to Harbor Creek (57-50) in the district championship tilt and also against Greensburg Central Catholic (60-38) in the first round of the PIAA Class AA playoff. West Middlesex closed out the season with a 17-8 mark (most wins in a single season).

During the regular season, first-place Sharpsville got the best of West Middlesex three times. However, in the post-season, the Ms. Reds scored a 36-23 win to advance in the districts.

Key Returnees
Without Alyson Pierce, the Ms. Reds lose one of the school’s finest contributors on a group which did something that no other West Middlesex girls’ basketball team has done. Coach Mike Williams returns a bevy of talented girls in Morgan Atterholt, Gretchen Elsey, Allie Staunch, Delaney Dogan and Noelle Murray just to name a few.
