The Warriors fumbled on their opening possession that set up a short drive for the Hornets, capped by a one yard touchdown run by Owen Lewis. Augustus Necastro led the offense back with a nice drive down into the red zone, but the Warriors couldn’t convert on a touchdown and settled for a 31 yard field goal from Kasey Tingler.
The Hornets scored two field goals before the half to make it a 13-3 game. But Brookfield came out firing in the second half, with a 50 yard touchdown pass to cut it to 13-10. Kirtland answered with two touchdowns of their own to extend their lead to 27-10. Necastro tossed another 64 yard touchdown to cut into the lead but it wasn’t enough in the end.
Brookfield finishes the season with a 10-2 overall record, while Kirtland (11-1) advances to play Cuyahoga Heights in the Regional Finals next week.
