Second-half surge powers Ursuline past Woodridge

Ursuline topped Woodridge 27-20 in week 12.

HUDSON, Ohio (WKBN) – Ursuline topped previously unbeaten Woodridge 27-20 in Division IV playoff action at Hudson Saturday night.

Kimauni Johnson opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 27-yard touchdown run.  The PAT was no-good, and the Irish held a 6-0 lead.

The Bulldogs answered back int he second quarter when Mason Lydic connected with Robbie Taylor ona 15-yard touchdown pass.  The PAT was also no-good, and the game was tied 6-6.

It stayed that way until the third quarter when Dakota Hobbs returned the second half kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown to give Ursuline a 13-6 advantage.

Kimauni Johnson tacked on another touchdown with a 5-yard scoring scamper to increase the Irish lead to 20-6.  Johnson finished with 195 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

With 4:50 left in the third quarter, Deion Edwards raced for a 60-yard touchdown to put Ursuline in front 27-6.

Woodridge added a pair of touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to keep the undefeated season alive, ending the campaign at 11-1.

Ursuline improves to 7-5 on the season, and advances to face Crestwood (10-2) Saturday at 7PM at a location TBA.
