Warren residents hold sit-in for safer neighborhoods

Warren residents hold a sit-in to fight for safer neighborhoods.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – People in one Warren neighborhood were out protesting on Saturday, fighting to have a safer neighborhood.

Neighbors gathered at the Roosevelt Garden for what they called a “neighborhood awareness sit-in protest.”

It happened Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Vernon and Hall.

They’re concerned about drugs and other crimes happening and they’re working with city hall on the problems.

“We are trying to back them up as they are going to back us up and we just…really, our neighborhood is strong, we’re trying to get our neighborhood back, safe for our kids and our grandchildren,” said Jennifer Walker, a Warren resident.

Some of the people taking part in the sit-in protest have lived in the neighborhood all of their lives.
