Spin classes raise awareness for pancreatic cancer

The Turn It Purple Ride, held at Pure Cycle in Canfield, raises awareness for pancreatic cancer research.

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and World Pancreatic Cancer Day was this past Friday.

Pure Cycle in Canfield was supporting the cause on Sunday by sponsoring its annual “Turn It Purple Ride.”

Three free classes were held to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer.

Purple is the color for pancreatic cancer, and lots of people proudly wore it in honor of loved ones who died from the disease.

“It’s so important because we need to fund research. Cancer sucks,” said owner Shelly Colucci. “If we can help by funding [research] and giving somebody a chance, that’s what we need to do.”

Seventy-two riders took part in Sunday’s fundraiser. The studio is already looking forward to next year’s ride.

Shirts can be purchased or a donation can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
