BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Boardman location of Cheddar’s restaurant has closed Monday, according to a corporate company official.
Cheddar’s said the move was strategic. Customers who showed up for lunch were completely caught by surprise that the restaurant had closed.
A statement from Cheddar’s Regional VP of Operations Chris Enright said:
As Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen grows as a brand, we continue to make strategic decisions about where to open new restaurants and which ones to close. After great consideration, we made the business decision to close our Youngstown restaurant on Nov. 16. We genuinely thank our guests and team for their support over the past three years. We hope they will have the opportunity to visit us again at one of our other 160+ locations throughout the nation.
The Cheddar’s chain will continue. It is just the Boardman location that is closing.
Customer Valorie Peters said she is disappointed by the closure.
“Actually, I liked it, because of their chicken, and they would cook it the way we liked it,” she said. “Plus, we’re about 40 miles from here, so any time we would come here.”
The Boardman restaurant opened three years ago and joins TGI Fridays in leaving the township.
