Akron school cancels D.C. trip over security concerns

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Amid concerns over security, an Ohio school canceled a field trip to Washington, D.C.

A middle school near Akron canceled trip for 250 eighth graders. The students were scheduled to travel from Green to Washington this week.

The school postponed the trip because of terrorism concerns.

Other schools across the eastern part of the country have canceled class trips including schools in South Carolina and Connecticut.

The cancellations came as D.C. and federal authorities moved to heighten security and urged people to conduct business as usual.
