Vista Center receives distinction from Alzheimer’s Foundation

The Alzheimer's Foundation presented Vista Center at the Ridge with an award.

MINERAL RIDGE, Ohio (WKBN) – Vista Center at The Ridge received a distinctive honor Thursday for their work with dementia.

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America awarded Vista Center with the Excellence in Care Dementia Program of Distinction Award.

The Center is one of only two facilities in the state of Ohio to receive the award. Clinical Operations Manager Vickie Heller said obtaining the distinction was a goal they set last year.

“We worked very hard with training and policy development. We successfully passed our on-site certification process, and we were awarded that distinction,” Heller said.

The majority of the staff at the center received a minimum of four hours of training in dementia care. Nurses and assistants have gone through an additional eight hours of training to help people living with dementia.
