2015-16 Marlington Dukes’ Girls’ Basketball Preview
Head Coach: Terry Rowe, 4th season
Record: 10-14 (5-9), 6th in Northeastern Buckeye Conference

Season in Review
In coach Terry Rowe’s 3rd season since taking over for Tom Miller, his team was able to win the sectional championship. In his previous three opportunities in the playoffs, Marlington was unable to come away with a victory. Led by a mix of underclassmen and experienced seniors, the Dukes posted a 10-win season.

The Lady Dukes were bounced from the 2015 Uniontown District Semifinal by eventual champion Hoban by a score of 38-28. The 5th seeded Dukes got by Canton South (42-37) to win the sectional championship.

Key Returnees
Coach Terry Rowe says, “The girls have displayed great attitudes and the willingness to work hard. We’ll be a perimeter based scoring team. We have a number of players returning who gained valuable varsity experience.” Morgan Penird averaged 11.2 points while Alissa Powers posted a 7.4 scoring average and 4.9 rebounds. Zoey Peck added 7 points (6.9) and 3.4 boards as a freshman.

“Our team goals remain the same,” Rowe said. “To work hard and improve every time we step on the court. The league is very solid. We want to be playing our best basketball at the end of the season.”
