NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WKBN) – Police raids at four separate locations in New Castle Friday turned up guns, cash, drugs and stolen items.
Police from New Castle, Union Township and members of the Lawrence County District Attorneys Special Investigative Unit were serving a warrant at 412 Bleakley Avenue where they found $18,870 in cash, a sub-machine gun and two handguns. Suspected marijuana, cocaine and a stolen dirt bike were also seized.
Officers arrested Maurice Moore, 31, from Mississippi, and charged him with several firearm violations and receiving stolen property. Moore was also charged with two counts of drug possession.
New Castle police and federal agents also raided three other homes Friday at the following locations: 1517 Hamilton Avenue, 302 East Home Street and 1148 Pin Oak Drive Apartment 1C. The names of the suspects arrested during those raids have not been released.
According to police, the raids followed a month-long investigation into the trafficking of drugs and guns in New Castle and surrounding states.
