GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania (WKBN) – Deja vu? Sharpsville defeated West Middlesex for the fifth time in as many years in the district tournament. Tonight, the Blue Devils got by the Big Reds 46-7 to advance to the district title game against the Farrell Steelers (11-1) next weekend. The two schools have met once in the past (2009: Farrell 34-7) in the District Final.

Following a Big Red drive which was stalled on downs, Sharpsville went 70 yards on 7 plays in just about three and a half minutes as Khaliq Ragster dashed 5-yards to pay dirt to open the scoring. After a three-and-out by West Middlesex, the Blue Devils struck quick as Luke Henwood found Marquis Altman on a 55-yard touchdown strike on the first play of their third possession.
Back came Sharpsville, Tyrin Peavy picked off Nick Cannone. Four plays later, Altman scampered 22-yards to extend the Devil lead to 20-0 with 11:05 remaining in the second quarter.
Just before the intermission, Ragster posted a 4-yard touchdown run (his second on the day) to take a 26-0 advantage into the half.
In the first half, Sharpsville gained nearly 250 yards while the Blue Devil defense held West Middlesex to under 15 yards rushing and 3 first downs.
To begin the third quarter, Peavy intercepted another pass and returned it back to the Big Red 3-yard line. On the next play, Peavy ran in a three yard run to make the score 32-0 just a minute and eleven seconds into the second half.
Just when the Middlesex offense had something going (inside of Sharpsville territory), Altman picked off a pass and returned it 65-yards to give the Devils a 39-0 lead. The next time the Big Reds had the ball, they fumbled it away to be recovered by Sharpsville. Three plays later, the Blue Devils reached the end zone again on a Ragster 11-yard run.
Finally, the Big Reds scored on a Jason Ash run to cap a 6-play, 45-yard drive with 4:39 left in the game.
The Big Reds fall to 8-4 and saw their two-game win streak end tonight. In their four losses, West Middlesex was outscored 167-32.
