Chipotle E. coli outbreak has local customers concerned

Customers in Boardman respond to the E. coli outbreak affecting some Chipotle restaurants.

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Ohio joins the list of states affected by an E. coli outbreak at Chipotle.

The closest locations to the Valley are in Akron and two Cleveland suburbs.

“If I’d known about it, I probably wouldn’t have come here today,” said Kasey Badgley, who had lunch at the Chipotle in Boardman.

She had no idea there was an E. coli outbreak, but she knew something was wrong when she walked in the door.

“Usually the line is wrapped around the building and today, there is not even like, ten people here today. So I think it’s affected how people view Chipotle right now.”

Although the Boardman location has no cases of E. coli, Badgley says it still makes her nervous.

A specific ingredient hasn’t been linked to the illness.

Chipotle gave a written statement:

We have taken aggressive steps to make sure our restaurants are as safe as possible and you can learn more on our website where we will continue to provide the most up-to-date information.

Badgley says this may be her last bite of Chipotle for a long time.

“I am definitely going to look into this, because I was extremely unaware.”
